Reflections on a Sunday Afternoon in the ER

After spending the better part of the afternoon in the ER with my husband and his 96 year old grandmother, I am reflecting on a few things to be grateful for: that grandma is back home tonight, for her stories, which today ranged from horse and sled winter transportation to an 8th grade boy doing needlepoint during class, and for my husband, who is a wonderful and caring grandson.

I’m also grateful for hot water and soap and anti-bacterial lotion, because it’s definitely flu season and the ER was full of nasty coughs and haggard looking people with masks.
