Holiday Movie Roundup

I am nostalgic for many movies around this time of year. And just like last year, I’m already thinking about the few titles that make it the holidays at my house, even more than decorations.

Maybe it’s because I had time to watch many movies during Christmas breaks, or maybe it’s because holiday movies are a thing for my family. Or because my husband and I were never home at Christmas and so never really decorated. We always traveled at Christmas. But this year we are finally in our own house, staying put. I’m excited to finally start some traditions of our own. But there are some things that carry over from our childhoods, like stockings and Christmas cookies and board games. The movie thing is sometimes hard to explain to others, including the people who marry into our family. Really, how do you explain that Better Off Dead is necessary holiday viewing?

Here’s my list of holiday movies:

  1. The Snowman
  2. Home Alone. Available to rent/stream on Amazon and iTunes.
  3. White Christmas. Available to stream on Netflix and to rent/stream on iTunes.
  4. The Holiday. Available to rent/stream on Amazon and iTunes.
  5. Love Actually. Available to stream on Netflix and to rent/stream on Amazon and iTunes.
  6. The Family Stone. Available to rent/stream on Amazon and iTunes.
  7. A Christmas Story. Available to rent/stream on Amazon and iTunes.
  8. Better off Dead

And what about TV episodes? Who can forget the classic Thanksgiving Friends episode when Brad Pitt appeared?

What are your favorite holiday movies?
