Tonight Future President got his first real skinned knee. It was bound to happen as he was running as fast as he could on cement while wearing shorts. I know it’s the first of many skinned knees. Based on his father’s knee history, he will age into adulthood with scars.
He didn’t even cry. He stood up, wiped his hands on his shorts and kept going. It wasn’t until we offered the stroller that he sat back and said, “My owie!” His immediate ownership and brave attitude was startling, considering this is the same child that cries if I put water in the wrong sippy cup. I was so proud of him. I wanted to cry, to cuddle him, but he marched up to bath time and barely flinched when I washed it.
All band-aided up, he had Curious George and Elmo give his knee kisses.
